Powerful Message

I know so many people who are dealing with crisis issues and are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders and as I was reading my devotional, I found this profound message at the end:

"Remember, the very time for faith to work is when our sight begins to fail. And the greater the difficulties, the easier it is for faith to work, for as long as we can see certain natural solutions to our problems, we will not have faith. Faith never works as easily as when our natural prospects fail" George Meuller

Somthing to Ponder...

In order to see the blessing or the benefits from our captivity, we must accept the situation and be determined to make the best of it.  Worrying over what we have lost or what has been taken from us will not make things better but will only prevent us from improving what remains.  We will only serve to make the rope around us tighter if we rebel against it.

Water for Elephants Finale

This book was profound in a lot of ways.  I am sure I am the only one who may feel this way, but being in social work, I find it inspiring to read about an elderly person's life, true or not! Jacob's life was interesting and his amazing history did not go unnoticed at the end!

This book was a lite but very good read.  It was filled with action and enough intrigue of this man's life that the reader feels as if they are linked to him in some way.  By the end of the book I was giddy and excited that Jacob had his happy ending!

Though I believe it is a love it or hate it book, I recommend it!

Water For Elephants, Harry Potter and more

Since the Harry Potter film is coming out I have decided to pick up and dust off "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".  It was a great read before but I am sure it will be even better the second time around!

I am still reading "Water for Elephants" and though it is a light read, there are dark undertones that I cannot place my finger on.  The book is well written and keeps you wondering as to what will happen next and where she is taking the characters that have been so well developed throughout the previous chapters.  To be continued....

Hunger Games Series

So if you have not started the Hunger Games Series (Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay), go to your nearest book swap, half price or book store and buy these books!! The series was moving and action from start to finish.  This series is young adult friendly and brings passion back to reading.  It is not about vampires, werewolves or fairies.  These books bring humanity to it's knees and has the readers begging for more.  I definitely recommend The Hunger Game Series!

Water for Elephants

I am currently reading  Water for Elephants.  The style of writing draws you into the character development.  It will be very interesting to see where Sara takes her reader...still have a long way to go!!

A Flower Can Only Grow When the Rain Falls

This is from a testimonial that spoke to me today:

"Someone once said of Joseph that when he was in the dungeon, "iron entered his soul". And the strength of iron is exactly what he needed, for earlier he had only experienced the glitter of gold."

"We all need the iron in life to enlarge our character. The common thing that unites us all is the iron ( or suffering ) that we have all experienced...yet these troubled times have caused spiritual growth of some sort.  THE COMMON TOUCH OF HUMANITY THAT GIVES THE WORLD TRUE KINSHIP IS NOT JOY BUT SORROW, GOLD IS ONLY PARTIAL TO FEW BUT IRON IS UNIVERSAL!"

This sounds like it has a negative meaning behind it but this whole story comes down to this... "It is in the shadows of your life that you will find the actual fulfillment of your dreams of glory."

Healing Words

I thought I would share a Psalm with everyone today.  It is a Psalm of healing:

May God heal me,
body and soul.
May my pain cease,
May my strength increase,
May my fears be released,
May blessings, love,
and joy surround me.
Amen.
O Lord, my God,
I cried out to You,
and You healed me.
–Psalm 30:3

Sarah C...this is for you!

May everyone dealing with sufferings of the body or soul find peace today! Those that are frightened, may your fears be taken from you! And those that are bound by loneliness, feel freedom in knowing that you are not alone! Have a wonderful Sunday!

The Beginning...

So I have decided to join my friends in the blogging world. I am not going to blog about my day or about my life. People do not hear enough encouragement in their day to day lives and I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by women and men who emulate strength, faith and hope through the toughest of times. So this is going to be a journey of strength, hope, faith and love....all things that can and will motivate empowerment and positive change.

Peace and Love!
